Tuberous Breast Correction

Tuberous Breast Correction In Vancouver

Tuberous breast shape is a congenital condition that affects the natural shape and symmetry of the breasts. Characterized by a constricted base, enlarged or puffy areolas, and a lack of fullness in the lower breast pole, this condition can significantly impact self-esteem and body image.

If you have noticed that your breasts have an unusual shape or asymmetry, you are not alone. Many women discover this condition during adolescence or early adulthood and seek solutions to achieve a more balanced and natural appearance.

Signs & Characteristics Of Tuberous Breasts

Tuberous breasts can present differently from one patient to another. Common characteristics may include:

  • A narrow or constricted breast base
  • Limited development of the lower portion of the breast
  • A higher than usual breast fold
  • Enlarged or prominent areolas
  • Breast tissue projecting into the areola
  • A noticeable gap between the breasts
  • Differences in breast size, shape or position
  • Asymmetry between the two breasts

Some patients have relatively subtle characteristics, while others experience more significant differences in breast shape and development.

Correcting Breast Shape, Asymmetry & Areolas

Correcting tuberous breasts is a specialized surgical procedure designed to reshape and enhance the breasts, addressing the unique characteristics of this condition. The surgery often involves:

  • Releasing constricted breast tissue: To allow for a more natural breast shape.
  • Breast Asymmetry to reshaping the breast mound: Creating a fuller and more symmetrical appearance.
  • Repositioning the areola: Reducing size and correcting herniation if necessary.
  • Breast augmentation for tuberous breasts: Using implants or fat transfer to achieve desired volume and contour.

Every womans experience with tuberous breasts is unique, and so is the surgical approach. Dr. Seal understands the personal nature of this journey and is committed finding the right solution for all of your goals.

Breast Implants For Tuberous Breasts

Breast implants may be used when additional breast volume is desired or when an implant can help create improved shape and proportion.

Implant selection is individualized according to the patient’s existing breast tissue, chest dimensions, degree of asymmetry and desired result.

Because tuberous breasts can have structural differences beyond breast volume alone, implant placement may be combined with additional techniques to reshape the breast.

Correcting Enlarged Or Puffy Areolas

An enlarged, prominent or protruding areola is another common characteristic of tuberous breasts.

When appropriate, areolar correction can be incorporated into surgery to reduce the diameter of the areola and improve its relationship with the newly shaped breast.

Correcting Breast Asymmetry

Tuberous breast characteristics do not always affect both breasts equally. One breast may be smaller, more constricted or differently shaped than the other.

Correction therefore often requires treating each breast individually rather than performing exactly the same procedure on both sides. The goal is improved balance, shape and proportion while recognizing that natural breasts are rarely perfectly symmetrical.

Tuberous Breast Correction Recovery

Recovery depends on the combination of procedures performed. Swelling, bruising and temporary changes in breast shape are expected during the early healing period, and the breasts will continue to settle as healing progresses.

Patients receive individualized postoperative instructions based on their surgery, including guidance regarding activity, incision care, support garments and returning to exercise and normal routines.

Tuberous Breast Correction Before & After Results

Before and after photographs can be particularly helpful when considering tuberous breast correction because the condition varies significantly between patients.

Viewing patients with similar breast characteristics can provide a better understanding of the types of changes that may be possible through surgery.

Tuberous Breast Correction Consultation In Vancouver

A consultation provides an opportunity to assess breast shape, symmetry, skin and tissue characteristics, nipple and areola position, and the degree of breast-base constriction.

From there, a surgical plan can be developed around the patient’s individual anatomy and desired outcome rather than applying the same approach to every tuberous breast.
